To help you grasp how my Chakra Reflection paintings can be of benefit, I’ve provided an overview of the colours used and their meanings below.
The seven main chakras are associated with the colours Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet, each reflecting the energy and qualities of that chakra.
Overview of the Seven Chakras and Their Colours
- Root Chakra (Muladhara) – Red
Located at the base of the spine, the Root Chakra represents stability, survival, and grounding. Its red colour reflects strength, vitality, and connection to the physical world. - Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) – Orange
Found in the lower abdomen, this chakra governs creativity, sexuality, and emotional balance. Orange symbolizes warmth, enthusiasm, and pleasure. - Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) – Yellow
Positioned in the upper abdomen, it is associated with personal power, confidence, and self-esteem. Yellow represents energy, intellect, and clarity. - Heart Chakra (Anahata) – Green
Located at the center of the chest, the Heart Chakra governs love, compassion, and emotional healing. Green reflects harmony, growth, and balance. - Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) – Blue
Found at the throat, this chakra is linked to communication, self-expression, and truth. Blue symbolizes clarity, calmness, and honesty. - Brow/Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) – Indigo
Positioned between the eyebrows, it governs intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness. Indigo represents perception, wisdom, and inner vision. - Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Violet or White
Located at the top of the head, the Crown Chakra is associated with spiritual connection, enlightenment, and higher consciousness. Violet or white reflects purity, transcendence, and divine energy.
Significance of Chakra Colours
Chakra colours are not merely symbolic; they correspond to vibrational frequencies of energy centres in the body, similar to the visible light spectrum. Lower chakras resonate with lower frequencies (red, orange, yellow), while higher chakras vibrate at higher frequencies (green, blue, indigo, violet) reflecting their spiritual and energetic qualities. Visualizing these colours during meditation or healing practices can help balance energy flow, enhance awareness, and support emotional and physical well-being.
Practical Use
- Meditation and Visualization: Focusing on the colour of a specific chakra can help activate or balance its energy.
- Healing Practices: Colours are used in energy healing, yoga, and crystal therapy to harmonize the body’s energy centres.
- Self-Awareness: Understanding chakra colours can provide insight into emotional or spiritual imbalances and guide personal growth.
By learning the colours and meanings of each chakra, you can deepen your connection to your energy system and enhance your physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
